Welcome to the long overdue next edition of Europeians in Ancient Rome, an exclusive feature of the Europeian Citizen. One of the more popular emperors is being scooped up tonight, and yes, I'm avoiding using Augustus on purpose. It's fun to watch you egomaniacs squirm. In any case, tonight we compare Rome's most cosmopolitan emperor to Europeia's most cosmopolitan president...the Emperor Hadrian and North East Somerset.

Hadrian was born to a noble family that in then recent generations put down roots in the Spanish settlement of Italica near modern day Seville. NES was a product of Great Britain & Ireland and later The Land of Kings and Emperors and The New Inquisition alongside members who would later prove as a sort of noble example for Europeia's formative years.

NES has served in a plethora of military positions throughout NationStates displaying a superior command of game mechanics and the nuances of military gameplay. Most recently he serves as a Lord Commander of ISRA by virtue of his status as King of Balder and an Associate Commander of UIAF as well as a Captain in the ERN. Hadrian served as a military tribune and legionary legate fighting against Germans, Pannonians, and Parthians early in his career.

Hadrian came to spend a tremendous amount of his time micromanaging and placating the army during his principate. He is perhaps most famous for the erection of Hadrian's Wall in Brittania. NES has spent the majority of his time in Europeia as the foremost authority in the areas of intelligence and foreign affairs. His success and effectiveness in this arena stretches far beyond the scope of his short presidency. He was the driving force behind the creation and proliferation of the EAAC.

Unlike Hadrian who didn't put much stock in his marriage, NES took for a wife an ascendant Europeian politician, Rachel Anumia. The roleplay marriage fostered a close political alliance which remains strong to this day.

Hadrian rose to power by virtue of his support from the Syrian armies as well as the Senate following the death of the illustrious Trajan. Similarly, NES was elected president with the broad support of Europeia's military and foreign policy communities.

The Emperor was a great patron of the arts and architecture. Similarly, NES was generous with bestowing honors during his presidency, awarding no less than twenty-four presidential medals.

NES is well traveled. He maintains a presence in a number of communities, both game and user created, as he has done for several years. In fact, he is one of the best known players in the game and is revered in the Imperialist and Independent (he is the father of Independence) circles and therefore has been a catalyst for Europeian awareness of and engagement in the wider world. Hadrian spent more than half of his reign abroad, with a particular affection for Athens.

This is great, CSP. Keep it up!
